Get it, Al.

So, two nights ago, I was watching the BET awards (what?) and they gave Al Green the Lifetime Achievement Award, and then he performed two songs: "Let's Stay Together" & "Love and Happiness." At first, I was worried Al might have lost "it." You know what "it" is. "It's" that thing that you have when "you've got it." That probably didn't make a lot of sense- but whatev. So, anyway- Al made the audience sing his song because he's Al Green and everyone knows the words to his songs. So- this is the BET awards, right? There's all these gangstas in attendance (and that's not a racial comment- they are all trying to be gangstas, all tough and bad-ass. It's true). And all of these gangstas are just belting out Let's Stay Together. Dude, it was so funny. Busta Rhymes was gettin' it- so was T-Pain and Lil' Wayne.

By the way, I would not pay money to see Lil' Wayne (Weezie) perform live. That boy sucked. Sorry to Lil' Weezie fans, but dang. I think he should have laid off the Couvoisier before the show. Anyway..Al Green ended up rockin' it out. It was probably the best live performance I've seen on an awards show in a long while because he had everyone, and I mean EVERYONE standing up and belting out his tunes. Pretty supertastic.

Anyway, I'm supposed to be studying for my exams-- but instead I'm watching reruns of Grey's and downloading Al Green songs. Z just made me a Bacardi O and OJ. Before that, I had a Parrots Bay and diet. This is not facilitative (is that a word?) of study time. I don't really have anything else to say. I'm boring. I know. I'm sorry. Maybe tomorrow.

Loves.

(By the way, don't forget to check out my soundtrack. And, don't forget to comment!)

If My Life Was A Movie...

This would be my soundtrack.

Opening Credits: Beautiful Disaster- Jon McLaughlin
I think this is a great song for how I felt in high school-- which is when my movie would begin.

Waking Up:
Tomorrow- Lillix

Average Day: Hanging Around- Counting Crows

High School: “Saved By The Bell” TV Theme Song; Girl Next Door- Saving Jane
For those of you who really know me, you know that Saved By the Bell is one of my most favorite shows and I always wished I went to Bayside. Girl Next Door is just very true to life.

High School Boyfriend/ Heartbreak: Slow Dancing in a Burning Room- John Mayer
This song makes me feel how I felt when I was in my "serious" relationship in high school- particularly when I knew it was ending.

Prom: I Wanna Dance With Somebody-Whitney Houston; Footloose!
I put my dancin' shoes on at prom!

Playing Sports: All-Star- Smashmouth
When I played softball in the summers, we always listened to this. It brings me back to those times everytime I hear it!

Summer Vacations: Summertime- Kenny Chesney; Two Piña Coladas- Garth Brooks

Secret Love: Secret- Maroon 5
This was the "gettin' jiggy" song in the movie "The Wedding Date," and it was so sexy- but not a great love scene tune for my movie since it talks about not knowing the person well. But, I think it fits my "secret love" moments for my movie!

Fake Friends: Thank You- Simple Plan; Low- Kelly Clarkson
I had some really trying times with my friends in high school. People who I thought were my friends or would be my friends forever turned out to be quite disappointing.

High School Graduation: Here’s to the Night- Eve 6; Time of Your Life- Green Day
Classics.

Starting College: Breakaway- Kelly Clarkson; Hello- Schuyler Fisk
The Schuyler Fisk song is more about leaving behind that guy from high school-- we still talked when I left, but I knew that we probably would never be friends or anything more again. It was sort of a sad moment at that time.

Long Night Alone: Boulevard of Broken Dreams- Green Day

Partying: Goodies- Ciara; Yeah- Usher/ Lil’ Jon; Hips Don’t Lie- Shakira; Low- FloRida
A couple of good ones from college parties and then a fun song for now.

Falling in Love: Hanging By a Moment- Lifehouse; For You I Will- Teddy Geiger
These are also from two different points in life. You figure it out- the Lifehouse song brings back so many memories...good and bad.

Love Scene: Loving You- Paolo Nutini
This is a very pretty song that I could imagine playing in a love scene in my movie- it reminds me of the Maroon 5 song that I think it very sexy (see above) but is much more suited to be in this category.

Breaking Up: The Trouble With Love Is- Kelly Clarkson
I was never really an angry broken hearted maniac- I was always kind of sappy, and this song fits how I felt during those shitty moments.

Getting Back Together: The Reason- Hoobastank; Better Together- Jack Johnson

Flashback: Summer of ’69- Bryan Adams
This is one of my favorite songs. I can't explain it, but I had to include it, and this category seemed to be the best.

Roadtrip: Life is a Highway- Rascal Flatts; The Great Escape- Boys Like Girls

Feeling Angsty: Right to Be Wrong- Joss Stone
This is how I feel fairly often :)

Engagement: I Drink, Swear, Steal and Lie- Brad Paisley; Everything- Michael Buble

College Graduation: Whenever You Remember- Carrie Underwood; Get Out of This Town- Carrie Underwood
"Get Out of This Town" is a good one for this category because I went to college in a tiny town that was suffocating me!

Starting Law School: So Long Sweet Summer- Dashboard Confessional
Basically, no more summers ever because even during the summer break, you either work full time or take classes.

Forever Friends: Find Out Who Your Friends Are- Tracy Lawrence; Umbrella- Rihanna

Death of a Loved One: One Sweet Day- Mariah Carey/ Boyz II Men

Mental Breakdown: Unwell- Matchbox 20; Bother- Stone Sour
I guess if I ever had a mental breakdown these songs would accurately set the mood?!

Deep Thought: Bittersweet Symphony- The Verve
To me, this is a perfect "thinking song." I've liked it ever since I heard it in the movie Cruel Intentions.

Wedding: This Kind of Love- Sister Hazel; Lost in the Moment-Big and Rich
"This Kind of Love" was our wedding song. It's unique and beautiful.

Closing Credits: Don’t Worry, Be Happy- Bob Marley
My dad and I used to sing this together all the time. I'd want to finish out my movie on a happy note like this.

So, that's my soundtrack. I'll probably add to it over the years... but for now it seems perfect. I think I am going to try to add a music player on the site that plays my life soundtrack. That would be neat-o.

Coffee Overload.

So- I'm at work again.

Yeah. That's fabulous news for you because that means that this post will make absolutely no sense whatsoever and you'll probably be stupider (yes, that's a word) at the end just for reading it. By the way, that was my version of a disclaimer.

Anyway, I got my pup back yesterday! We boarded him over the weekend while we were at the beach, and the place isn't open on Sundays, so we had to wait until yesterday to go pick him up. I think that it is ridiculous that a veterinarian's office is closed on Sundays. Don't they know that people come back from vacays on Sundays? Geez. It's like they are purposely trying to squeeze an extra $16 dollars out of me! Well, they probably are. That’s what business is all about- beau coups de dollares (pronounced bo-ku de dole-are-ayes). That means money, for those of you who don’t speak Classy-Tallahassee.

I figured out today that drinking coffee makes me less hungry all the time. I’m not sure if drinking coffee all day rather than eating is any better than eating fried chicken, but at least I use Splenda and zero calorie creamer. Come on- that makes it better, doesn’t it? Has to, because fried chicken has 40 bazillion calories just in the fried skin. By the way, I am just joshing about not eating. I love food way too much to not eat. In fact, I think I’ll eat something now just to prove my point. Mmmm...nilla wafers.

My brain physically hurts.

So, surprise! I haven’t been paying attention in class at all this session and now exams are on the horizon. I was trying to comprehend what my professor was saying this morning in class and I couldn’t wrap my little brain around it. I must have missed something from a previous class. Thank GOD that one is a take home exam and that I have 4 days to write it. I’m basically going to be teaching myself the material as I write my exam. Yay for self-instruction! The other exam is the problem- it’s a closed book, closed note 4 hour exam that I have to take in the classroom. Luckily, I was smart enough to take it pass/fail, so I only have to get a 67 to pass—but dang, I still have to make a 67. So, I actually have to study the state constitution and look at the case briefs. However, my teacher was smart enough to have everyone in the class brief a case per class so I don’t even have to read the cases! Woot!

So, you may be asking yourself- What’s the problem? Sounds easy to me! Hey, if that’s all it is, maybe I could do law school! Yes, yes you can. But, that’s not the point. The point is that my lack of motivation and touch of ADD has triggered a full blown brain-block. I get a crazy headache every time I crack a textbook, and the headache can only be relieved by watching crappy reality T.V. or reruns of NCIS and Law& Order: SVU! I know; that’s weird, right?

This weekend, I have decided to work through the pain and do the work (because I have to since my coastal and ocean law exam is due on Monday morning). I’m thinking of creating myself a soundtrack to get me through it. Thus far, I have considered and then decided against Eye of the Tiger and I’ve Gotta Get Through This (Daniel Bedingfield). People have always told me that studying to classical music is good for memory retention...but seriously, I don’t think I could take it. Got any suggestions?

Speaking of tunes.

I heart Yahoo radio. They have all kinds of really good “stations,” but they also have an option where you can create your own radio station by choosing genres of music or favorite artists. One of my favorite stations on Yahoo radio is “The Coffeehouse.” They play stuff like John Mayer, Jack Johnson, etc. They also play some great fun tunes like the one I’m listening to...Suzanne Vega’s “Tom’s Diner.”

Have you ever thought about what your soundtrack would be in a movie about you? One of my sorority sisters did a soundtrack of her life one time and I thought about doing it myself. Maybe, since I am procrastinating at the moment, I’ll attempt to put a rough draft together. I’ll think about it and post it when I’ve got it together.

Dance break.

For those of you who didn't know, this is the kind of classy I'm talking about. Bahaha. :)

You know you are tired when...

--You tell people in your coastal and ocean law class that it should be a requirement for them to watch Bio-Dome since it's an environmental movie.

Yeah, I actually said that. Are any of you surprised? Probably not. In all reality, though, Bio-Dome is hilarious. I think it might be in Comcast On-Demand's free movies. Go watch it. Now.

Speaking of Comcast On-Demand- it is like frickin' crack. They play all of the episodes of T.V. shows from CBS, and so whenever I'm bored I just start scrolling through to see if there are any episodes that I haven't seen. Four of my favorite shows come on CBS (CSI, NCIS, Numbers, and Big Brother)- so I absolutely love On-Demand. Anyway, last night I was feeling tired, but not sleepy, and wanted to watch something...and I came across episodes of the new CBS show Swingtown. It's the show set in the 70s about a neighborhood of swingers. :) Anyways, I watched like two episodes of it and was up until 12. Waking up for class this morning sucked a lot.

Do I have a point?
No. Sorry. I'm just really bored right now at work and have nothing to do. I guess I could go try to beat my score on Text Twist. I'm such a genius at that game so it's kind of boring now. You think I'm kidding, but I'm not. It takes quite a lot of talent to unscramble six letters to make a word-- and I have boatloads of that kind of talent. Yeah.

By the way, the answer to that Text Twist brain-stumper to the right is "ROTTEN." See? I'm a genius!

Man. I wish I had something to do. At this point, I'm actually considering studying. I know, crazy, right? The problem with that is I have ABSOLUTELY. NO. MOTIVATION. WHATSOEVER. to study State Constitutional Law or Coastal/ Ocean Law. I reeeeeeally wish I could learn by osmosis so that studying would simply consist of sleeping on my text books. Dang. That would be an awesome talent. I could probably be at Harvard right now if I had that talent... but, really, does anyone ever WANT to be at Harvard? Probably not. I know I don't. I'm alright enjoying the sun in Florida and not being all pressured to be awesome 24/7. :)

I have to start applying for jobs/ programs soon. I'm going to apply for the U.S. Department of Justice Honors Program just for shits and giggles. We'll see how that goes. My application will probably be forwarded to the nearest trashcan. But, you never get anywhere if you don't try...right?

Well, I'm going to try to find something interesting to do to pass the time until my next class.

(P.S. Rachel. This. Is. Your. Last. Warning. -- If you do not post today/tonight, I might start posting embarrassing stories. Haha.)

That's Beachin'!

So, I'm back from the beach-- and I had a good time. We really didn't spend too much time actually on the beach-- we spent a lot more time at restaurants and in the hotel pool. I am a little sunburned, but not too bad because I was at least smart enough to put some sunscreen on once before I got into the pool. We ate at some interesting places. On Friday for dinner we ate at Tootsie's Orchid Lounge which is a country bar based out of Nashville. It was located in a shopping center that looked a little like Town Center, but more like Broadway at the Beach in Myrtle Beach.

Anyways, after that, we went back to the room for a bit (we picked up some booze on the way) and the boys went down to the hotel pool because I had read on the internet that there was a swim up bar at the pool. There wasn't a swim up pool, but there was a bar next to the pool. So we all went down there and Jamie and I had some pina coladas. They were extremely yummy. There was a little steel drum band that was playing some recognizable tunes (like Jimmy Buffet). Later in the night, we ordered some food- I got some french fries because thats what I want to eat everytime I get a little tipsy. Glen and Jamie both decided they wanted a little seafood, so Glen got a seafood platter and Jamie got some crab balls. The crab balls were not good. at. all. They looked and tasted burnt. Glen's $16 seafood platter looked like an appetizer that should have cost, at max, $8. So, I, of course, said something to the waiter. He told us that the batter that they put on the crab balls "just looks like that." So, I decided to say something to the manager. Problem was, apparently there is no kitchen manager at night. Well, that would make sense-- seeing as how the food was crap. The woman at the bar told me that we would have to come back the next morning. So, we paid and were fixing to leave when Jamie said something about not even having a print out of what we bought because the receipt only said how much it was. So, I had to go get a print out of the receipt and I took one of the crab balls with me. I got the print out- and I said to the waiter, "You said that the crab balls are supposed to look like this, but can you just eat this and tell me if its supposed to taste like this?" He took it from me and said, "I'm not going to eat this," and then he chucked it into the trashcan. I was so pissed. We left that restaurant fuming. But, then we went down to the beach and put our feet in the ocean and took funny pictures and started to feel less angry. Then we went and jumped into the pool with all our clothes on. :) We had a few more drinks in the hotel room before we all crashed. And, let me say, Glen snores like an effing chainsaw. It comes out of nowhere and it is freakin' loud as hell. He also sleepwalks...yeah. :)

So, the next day, we got up and went and had breakfast at a shit hole. No, seriously. It was crap. It was a breakfast buffet place, but they had instant eggs and way too much salt on their bacon. It was icky-- I mean, it wasn't that bad, but it wasn't good. So then we went to the beach and laid out in the sun. The boys and Jamie went and got into the ocean, but I waited for a report. Sometimes, the ocean is really gross. At home, its not the cleanest or bluest water, but at least I know what's up. On the gulf coast, I feel likes it's hit and miss. Especially in Panama City Beach where THOUSANDS of college students trash the beach every year during Spring Break. They said that the water was icky because of all of the seaweed. They also said that there were fish jumping up and that made Glen uneasy because if the fish are jumping, its probably because there is something they are trying to escape-- like a big predator. :) The second time that the boys went in, they said that they saw jellyfish. So, they headed up to the hotel pool. I stayed down on the beach and laid in the sun for a while until some people came up and kicked us off of the beach chairs. RUDE. So, Jamie put her towel on the sand and laid down, but I just picked up all mine and Z's stuff and headed up to the pool.

After a little while, we decided to get out and go get some lunch. We went up to Pinneapple Willy's. Its a popular restaurant in the area, and also a popular bar late night. We each had a signature frozen drink in HUGE cups and seafood that was so yummy. After that we did a little shopping at the typical beach stores, like WINGS and Alvin's. Alvin's is like the Wal-Mart Superstore of beach shops. I thought it would never end. They even have a little alligator habitat in the store with live gators. I didn't buy anything other than a bottle of water (I was so parched after walking for miles in that store!). I did get a t-shirt at Pinneapple Willy's, though.
Anyways, we headed back after that and Z and I CRASHED when we got home. It was a good trip (other than the crappy hotel bar/restaurant and the icky ocean). I don't know if we'll go back there again, but it was fun all the same.

Now, I have to go and study. I have exams starting next Monday. Pooey.

(P.S. RACHEL, you have to post in your blog!)

6.19.2008

I'm back.

I was just taking a break...
So I was absent for a while... I decided to get back on here and get going because my best friend Rachel is doing the "update" thing on here so that people know what is going on with her. I have already been on here for a little while-- so were are going to communicate through the blogs :) We did this for a bit when I was in college; although, Rachel rarely posted to her own blog!! So, for Rachel, and any of my other friends who want to do the same type of communication with me, I have a few rules:
1. You must post in your blog at least once a week. If you do not, I will assume that you have died, and that will make me hysterical. Y'all that know me know that hysterics is not a good look for me.
2. You must comment on my blogs... or at least the ones that you have a comment for. In turn, I will comment on yours!
3. If you put a picture of me on your blog, it better be a good one! (P.S. Rachel, fix it! Thanks.)

For now.. those are the only rules I can think of.

Anyways-
An update for those of you (if ANYONE) who read this and don't know me.

I got married to Z on May 10, 2008. It was absolutely the best day of my life! We had so much fun and danced the night away. Rachel (look to my links-- hers is What Doesn't Kill You Makes You Stronger) was one of my maids of honor [my sister Bri was the other]. Rachel and Bri gave me a terrific bachelorette party. Everyone dressed in pink and black and I was wearing a fluffy pink crown with penises on the top of it. The veil also had multi-colored penises and condoms on it and it lit up! Haha. We also had shot glasses on lanyards around our necks that were shaped like mini pimp glasses; mine said "Bachelorette" and the girls' said "My Bitches!" Hilarious.

So, here's a picture of the flowers that my mom MADE. Yes, that's right, I said she made them! She created all of the flowers with wire rimmed ribbon! Aren't they beautiful? She did such a good job!

Not much else to say. Be back again soon. :)
